We had an excellent experience at Main Street Pub! Waking up the morning after a ND home game is always sort of like a dream. It was a beautiful Sunday morning (aka afternoon :P) and we were STARVING. We were looking for a place we hadn't tried before... and were glad to happen upon Main Street Pub. When we walked in, I was a little nervous because a few employees walked passed us with out saying "Hello" or letting us know if we needed to wait to be seated vs. seat ourselves. The bartender called out a greeting from the bar side so we shuffled over to a booth by the window. The bartender came over to our table and took our drink order. I asked for a beer menu, but they didn't have one so she just listed the beers for us. Nothing too exciting. One 3 floyd's on tap but nothing local. I settled for a Lagunitas IPA which didn't disappoint. We got the queso con carne for an appetizer. The cheese was great (much like the cheese dip I make at home) and the meat was super spicy. My husband loved it... but I found it SO spicy. I'm sort of a wimp though when it comes to spice. I ordered a burger that came with pepper jack cheese, avocado, tomato, and lettuce. I opted to add some fried onion strings (that cost me 75 extra cents) and ordered fries as a side. The burger was large and cooked just right. The fries portion at first glance was a little skimpy, but I left with a full belly-- so no complaints here. The service was alright. We had to ask for refills a couple times. But overall the experience was pretty good. We'd return again to check out their build your own bloody mary and a couple over menu items that looked interesting.

Main st Pub is right around the corner from our home. It is pretty solid for a sandwich and a beer, almost anything you eat with a fork is not so good. I have always had friendly, decent service here both in the restaurant and the bar. Menu has changed recently...and on our last visit food quality was a bit better than it was around 6 months ago.

Food is always good, but the service is horrible. I used to eat there regularly - getting only slow service, but understandable - but haven't returned after a particularly bad night with one waitress. It was a Monday, very slow. My party of three came in at about 4PM, hoping to get home before dark (reasonable, even for the time of year) and sat ourselves in a dining room with only two other parties. One was a single man who left after us and only had a drink (which was never refilled) and sat at his laptop; the other was a pair of women, who hadn't yet ordered/gotten their food. The one (only) waitress for the three tables was slow, sloppy and snippy and I am generally very forgiving of bad service after having worked in the service industry myself. She took forever to get our orders, messed them up (forgot dressing and crackers, then later forgot what one person had ordered and had to come back out to ask) and never gave us refills. Dessert (which we ordered while still eating) came so late that the whipped cream had deflated, meaning she had left it out for some time. What should have been 30-45 minutes ended up being three hours, with the last third being waiting for our bill. To get it, we had to get up to get another server from the bar. To pay, we had to get someone again. I spoke to the waitress, only to be yelled at with the excuse of she was the "only" waitress working dining. By then, only one other party had come in (a group of 5-6 boys), and they'd not even gotten their drinks - the women had left only ~45 minutes before, after she finally gave them their bill. Until they make some effort to train their waitresses, I won't return. Food's good, but not worth it.

Ignore all of the older reviews, this establishment is under new management. Great food, relaxed vibe, easily approachable and reliable servers. I would certainly recommend this place to friends and family.

Took the advice of Kail and ventured in. Wish I had gone somewhere else. Was just so-so at best. Got a burger, you can't mess that up too much, but they are really over seasoned. Opted for tater tots over fries. Was charged an additional $1.79 for 5 tots. They were severely over cooked. First and only visit to MSP.

Well above average for a bar/pub thing. Very good beers on tap at great prices. The food is overpriced by a couple of dollars, but tasty... perfect bar food. Their wraps are creative and delicious, although it'd be nice if they used some kind of greens other than iceberg. Some of the grilled sandwiches are insanely good, like the "black jack" for instance, which is roast beef, provolone, mild horseradish sauce, and bacon in a grilled sourdough sandwich. The place is clean and well-run, and can be a lot of fun It also gets exceptionally busy at times, and can get packed with very annoying douchebags / baguettes from the elite institution in close proximity, so your best bet is to go on an off night.

Good food at a decent price.

Only the Oaken Bucket competes in terms of awful management and service.

Great food but the service was laughable. I created a yelp account while waiting an hour for our check. Granted, we were a party of 12 but our server had no other tables. She was happy to split our check when we sat down; she even wrote our orders under each of our names. How three orders didn't show up at the table is beyond me. Furthermore, once we were ready to pay, the checks were all wrong. My husband's and my meals weren't on the total. A manager was nowhere to be found. We asked for a manager but the bartender showed up 15 minutes later. We waited a full hour for the bill to be sorted out and were still told we would charged full price. The restaurant was not busy; aside from our party, there were only six other tables. As a server myself, I don't see any reason for this situation. After two and a half hours, our bill was comped.

Unfortunately, this place has gone down hill. I used to go quite a bit and service was always consistent and food was pretty good. Service now is simply horrible and not worth visiting. I was most recently here for lunch with three other co-workers. The restaurant was practically empty with only three other tables in the place. Drinks were served right away, but we ended up waiting over an hour for our food to arrive and one of the orders was wrong. They ran out of ice tea and were unable to provide refills (who knew it took so long to brew a fresh batch of tea!). Based on the conversations we overheard, the other tables in the place were experiencing the same problems. One of the servers did mention that only four people were working in the place that day. I ordered the chicken club wrap, which was good. However, it was served with fries that had obviously been sitting around way too long. The rest of the group ordered the Avocado Cobb Salad, Chili burger and Frisco melt. I can't speak for the taste, but the burgers certainly did not look appealing. Hopefully they can address their service issues (or lack of service) and get things back on track. In the meantime, there are much better options in the area.

Came here after leaving another restaurant that fed us too little food. Pulled pork nachos=BOMB! I'm going to try to recreate them :D

The food here is actually pretty good, and they have some good drinks. They have a lot of different burgers, wraps, and sandwiches. My friends really love the sweet potato fries, and I love the broccoli bites (basically deep fried cheese sauce). Unfortunately, the service has really gone downhill over the last year or so. The servers are friendly, and they (generally) get the orders right, but they really seem to take their time with things. If you come here for lunch, you should plan for it to be 1.5 - 2 hours, where most places would be 45 minutes.

Wow! If your income depends on my satisfaction, the waitresses at Main St Pub should find another career. 17 people here, 2 managers, 1 bartender, 2 waitresses and I can't get a beer.

The food here is above average for a pub. Prices are about right for the quantity and quality you receive. There is a good variety, and everything seems fresh. We ate here for the 2nd or 3rd time last week on a weeknight. There was only one other table in the restaurant (more people in the bar), but our server was never around. We eventually had to ask another server to refill our drinks, but she just found our waitress and told her to do it, rather than doing it herself. So we continued to wait, while the other server went back to coloring on a chalkboard. For the restaurant being empty, it took quite awhile for our food to arrive. Staff was saying that we had better hurry out because with a storm coming through they would probably lose power - apparently they always do when it rains?!? Previous visits, the service has been marginally better, but this is not a place we'll come back to very often, if ever.

love this spot in south bend because they have the MLB package. outside that, the food is pretty good and the drinks are pretty cheap. all in all, best place to watch a reds game in south bend.

The service was slow but the chicken kabob that we shared was good!! We also had the tator tots and a salad to start. So by the time the main meal came we were already full. Food is not disappointing at all... Definitely worth a return visit. Edit: SUPER SLOW SERVICE TODAY! Most of our time was spent waiting.

Standard chain pub type place. Not sure it's a chain though. No complaints just not blown away by the food or atmosphere. Staff was pleasant and we got our food and drinks in a timely manner. I just got the mushroom appetizer with blue cheese dip. The breaking got to be a bit much near the end, but I got through most of them. Ordered a shock top too and was hoping for an orange slice, but I guess you have to ask for that at some places. My husband enjoyed his roast beef sandwich and really liked the sweet potato fries. All around average.
